SparkFun, one of the best electronics hobbyist online retailers, hosted their Free Day today. They gave away $100,000 US in merchandise with each person receiving a maximum of $100. I tried to participate and claim some merchandise, but after 2 hours, it was all gone.
For the most part, they created their own denial of service attack, as the servers were pretty much non-responsive. It certainly turned out to be a good way to stress test their new web server cluster. Kudos to SparkFun for trying this, and giving back to their community in a big way.
